The updates are available now, and you can download them straight to your desktop using the Creative Cloud update app. You can read about all the new features in After Effects here and check here for Premiere Pro. With the new updates, After Effects and Premiere Pro should be able to max out your GPU and offer a nice boost in performance over previous versions. While the products have been able to take advantage of the GPU in the past, and even multiple GPUs, their performance has been somewhat throttled. When it comes to performance, After Effects and Premiere Pro have seen some pretty major updates, particularly with GPU acceleration. You can drag your footage around wherever you need to make sense to your workflow, and you can alter the size of clips allowing you to more easily recognise shot importance at a glance. The Freeform View in Premiere Pro allows you to organise your footage more efficiently than when using regular bins with sub-folders.
When CAF was first introduced into Photoshop, it wasn’t always that reliable, but it looks like Adobe have really learned from those lessons in implementing it with After Effects. The demos I saw on the stand all looked very impressive, but I’d like to try it with some trickier footage to see how it handles, especially if it needs to fill in using AI rather than other parts of the shot. Content-aware Fill for video looks like it’ll be a wonderful alternative to previous options for those who need to take out elements from their video clips.
